50,000 signatures would trigger a debate in the House of Commons

NDP MOTION WOULD MODERNIZE PETITIONS, OPEN UP PARLIAMENT 

OTTAWA – New Democrats Kennedy Stewart (Burnaby–Douglas) and Deputy Critic for Democratic Reform Alexandrine Latendresse (Louis-Saint-Laurent) will hold a press conference on Friday to announce the tabling of a motion to modernize the House of Commons’ petitions process and let Canadians force their issues onto the floor of Parliament.
