Commemorating Transgender Day of Remembrance

2011 11 18 - In the community

November 20 is the Trans Day of Remembrance. This is a day to remember those lost to Transphobic violence and to stand as allies for the promotion of the rights and safety of Transsexual, Transgender, Gender Queer and Gender Variant members of our communities.

Bill Siksay, my predecessor as MP for Burnaby-Douglas, did a lot of important work advancing LGBT issues, and his Trans Rights Bill has since been re-introduced as Bill C-279 by my colleague Randall Garrison. I was proud to have jointly seconded this bill, and to stand as an ally to the LGBT community.
